J. T. Crawford, President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Mr. Crawford is the Chief Executive Officer of Threat Tec and Highgate Companies. He leads Threat Tec’s Executive Leadership Team focused on the vision to strengthen and improve how US Military prepares their troops for modern warfare. Under his leadership, Threat Tec and Highgate Companies have realized unprecedented growth, delivering outstanding value in their prospective markets. Having founded each company to provide uncompromising value to the client, Threat Tec and Highgate Companies possess an inborn culture of excellence and commitment to delivery of products, services and innovations that solve complex problem and make their client’s lives better. Mr. Crawford is a U.S. Army Infantry veteran with over 25 years of experience in business management and federal contracting across worldwide and austere locations, focusing on Cyber and Electronic Threat, Asymmetric Warfare, Threat Emulation, and Experimentation. He is a fellow of the Strategic Planning Society and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Texas A&M University.


John M. McCarthy, Director of Operations

John McCarthy is the Director of Operations for Threat Tec and Highgate Companies. He is responsible for driving profitable growth and enabling operational excellence. Known for his strong track record of operational excellence, innovative problem solving and talent development, John ensures the continued production and quality of the results that are delivered to the customer.

As a retired Infantry Colonel with 28 years of active duty experience in the Continental U.S., Europe, Panama, Iraq, and Turkey, John brings his unparalleled organization and command ability to every project he oversees. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, the U.S. Army Command and Staff College, the Infantry Officer’s Basic and Advance Courses, as well as Airborne, Jumpmaster, and Ranger School. John holds two advanced degrees; a Master’s of Science – Training Simulations from the University of Central Florida, and a Master’s of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.


Laura Walkup, Chief Financial Officer

Laura Walkup is the Chief Financial Officer of Threat Tec and Highgate Companies. She manages the financial strategy and operations of the companies. Laura is committed to maximizing long-term organizational value, ensuring a balanced portfolio of growth initiatives and maintaining the high level of integrity and transparency of the companies. Laura has over 30 years of experience working in the Government Contract Accounting arena, for both a large, publicly held company and small businesses.  She has extensive knowledge of the DCAA regulations, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).  Laura also worked as a Senior Systems Consultant for Deltek, Inc., where she designed and implemented the accounting system for IBM Research.  Laura attended both Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University and holds a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.


Andrew Tietz, Chief Technology Officer

Andrew is the Chief Technology Officer for Threat Tec and Highgate Companies. Through his expertise in the areas of technology integration, computer science and software architecture, he leads innovative projects that drive growth amid accelerating disruptive forces and heightened customer experiences. Committed to challenging the status quo, Andrew develops breakthrough solutions that not only meet the trinsic and intrinsic needs of the end-user, but deliver outstanding value to each of the company’s clients. Based out of Champaign Illinois, he and his team leverage the latest technologies to create novel solutions that generate new avenues of growth and opportunity. Before coming onboard, Andrew was Immersive Learning Architect at Adayana Government Group. There he oversaw the development of interactive learning experiences. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Graphics from Purdue University.


Robert (Bob) Gahagan, Senior Site Manager, Ft. Benning

COL (R) Robert (Bob) Gahagan is a retired Armor officer with 28.5 years of active service and 12 years of service as a defense contractor supporting the US Army Armor School and Center and the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE). Mr. Gahagan’s current position is that of Threat Tec Senior Site Manager, Fort Benning, Ga. In this position Mr. Gahagan is responsible for providing world class Threat Emulation (TE) support to the 316th Cavalry Brigade. This includes TE support to the Advanced Situational Awareness Advanced and Basic Courses (ASA-A & B), the Reconnaissance & Surveillance Leaders Course (RSLC), the Army Reconnaissance Course (ARC), the Army Sniper Course, and the Armor and Infantry Basic Officer Leaders Courses (ABOLC & IBOLC). Mr. Gahagan is also tasked with the duty of training and certifying Threat Tec and 316th CAV TE support platoon TEs on the Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE), the six behavioral domains, PMESII, threat weapons, and threat Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). He is a graduate of the Army Command General Staff College (CGSC), the Australian General Staff College, and the National War College.
